Darth Bane is voiced by Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy and in the sequel trilogy. Hamill had expressed interest in working on the show before, but Dave Filoni felt he could only use him if the role was worthy enough. This part fit the bill, as Darth Bane was the creator of the Sith Rule of Two and Luke Skywalker the one who brought the last Sith back to the light.
Mark Hamill recorded his lines as Darth Bane twice, in two different voices. These were then layered on top of one another by sound editors Matthew Wood and David Acord by the instructions of voice director Dave Filoni.
Originally slated as the final episode of the series. Disney decided to end the series, to focus on Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) and Star Wars: Rebels (2014). Disney later revived the series for a seventh, and final, season on Disney+.
