Remember Rahul Bagga, who played the porn writer Mastram in the film of that title? Rahul is a trained theatre actor. It comes to light that he was chosen to be Salman Khan's Haryanvi diction coach for Sultan. Rahul says it was an indomitable challenge to get Salman to change the way he spoke in all his films. "I am an actor. To be given the job of being a diction coach was daunting. As he is a big star, that too 'The Salman Khan', everybody is very intimidated by him. But, I guess, I had this determination that I was chosen for a job that wasn't my main vocation." Sources from the unit say initially Salman refused to take instructions from Rahul. Unit members say Rahul had to work from scratch on the punctuations and diction in Salman's voice. The joke on the sets was, 'Chal Baggatu apna kaam kar le,...

Quietly, this week without any publicity of fanfare, here comes the film a little love story to vie for audiences' attention with the week's big love saga Hero.
Debutant director Prakash Nambiar's The Perfect Girl: Ek Simple Si Love Story introduces veejay Teeshay (he anchors Zoom's Planet Bollywood) with Tara-Alisha Berry (whom we saw as Mastram's wife in the film about the porn writer). The small and simple love story chronicles the journey of a pair who meet fall in love and then separate for a decade.
Director Nambiar hopes word-of-mouth would work for the film. "With so many upcoming releases, we would have someone or the other on the other side. So it might as well be Hero. We are confident about our film."
Nambiar is not aiming at getting a blockbuster on his bio-data. "We are not looking at 10s or 100s of crores. Whatever...

Barely 48 hours before release, Akhilesh Jaiswal's bio-pic on Hindi porn writer Mastram was finally cleared by the Censor Board Of Film Certification (Cbfc) with only two minor cuts. Much relieved producer Sunil Bohra says, "They cleared our film with just two minor cuts, a visual and an audio one." Apparently the Cbfc wanted the word 'badjaat' to be beeped out, which the makers of Mastram happily did. Says the relieved producer, "Until Tuesday we were not being given a censor clearance. I had started wondering if we'd be able to release our film on time! We finally got what we wanted. We were sure we wanted an 'Adults' certificate. We also knew there was nothing sleazy or vulgar about our film." If there is nothing suggestive or vulgar in Mastram why all the provocative tantalizing publicity? Defends Bohra, "Have we shown any nudity or sex in our publicity? We needed to get audiences interested.

Inspired by real life porn writer, the fictional biography of the well-known Hindi erotica writer Mastram will take the viewers on journey with Rajaram (Rahul Bagga), a small town bank clerk who dreams of travelling to Delhi and becoming a reputed writer.
No one takes his litterateur aspirations seriously, least of all his uncle, who marries him off to Renu (Tasha Berry).
Although a simpleton, Renu wholeheartedly.
