Terrible in Every Way. Painfully Terrible.
imdb-392-4924672 April 2024
Everyone in the cast for this movie is at least 20 years older than they need to be for this style of comedy to land.

The humor is a sort of ridiculous slap stick that requires the characters to be mentally disabled. It is impossible to accept these characters as existing except as escapees from a group living facility.

There isn't a single normal realistic character on the entire movie. It feels is like a skit that goes on for 10 times longer than is tolerable. If they had used child actors then I cold see this being quite clever.

At one point they talk about a hospital that is just for kids with cancer and claim this isn't believable. Since such a place does exist, it's becomes clear that the script is not in on the joke. The writing is simply the best possible from a cast of very ignorant people and it's difficult to find the humor.

Santa Muerte is troubled by vampires...
paul_haakonsen17 March 2021
Well, based from the movie's cover and the synopsis, I thought this movie to either be a fun one or one that totally would flop. So as I sat down to watch the 2020 movie "Hawk and Rev: Vampire Slayers" it could go either way for me.

And I will say that "Hawk and Rev: Vampire Slayers" luckily turned out for the better, as this was a funny and enjoyable movie. Sure, while it is not up to par with movies such as "Shaun of the Dead" or "Lesbian Vampire Killers", it certainly is a watchable and funny movie. However, it should be said that this particular movie is somewhat of an acquired taste, so I doubt it will prove as widely embraceable as "Shaun of the Dead" or "Lesbian Vampire Killers". However, I did enjoy "Hawk and Rev: Vampire Slayers", no doubt about it.

The storyline, as written by writer and director Ryan Barton-Grimley, was a good one, and it proved to be a story that had a lot of interesting aspects to it. The movie was a good mixture of light horror with a heavy doze of comedy to it. And the wonderful characters, especially Hawk (played by Ryan Barton-Grimley) and Rev (played by Ari Schneider) were just wonderful characters and were portrayed nicely by the two actors.

"Hawk and Rev: Vampire Slayers" is not a movie that is relying heavily on special effects or CGI, so you should not sit down to watch this movie with the intention or hopes of being in for a CGI fest.

I found this movie to be a nice surprise and an entertaining movie, and if you have the chance to sit down to watch it, I would recommend that you do so. My rating of "Hawk and Rev: Vampire Slayers" lands on a six out of ten stars.

Everything I was looking for !
littldevel17 July 2021
As a huge fan of B movie type films, vampires, 80s feeling films and comedy horror, Hawk and Rev:Vampire Slayers had everything I was looking for in a movie. I am not too sure how the ratings are so low as my teen and I had a great time watching it together. I think it is a must for any fans of vamps and horror comedies who just want a break from it all and a good laugh and adventure :)

Lots of fun!
BandSAboutMovies8 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Philip "Hawk" Hawkins (Ryan Barton-Grimley, who wrote, produced and directed) was kicked out of the army for killing someone who he thought was a vampire and has been thrown out of his parents' house, too. He's working as a security guard in Santa Muerta, California - which would probably be great if it wasn't for all the gd vampires - when some actual vamps show up. Only one person believes him, his vegetarian pacifist friend Revson "Rev" McCabe (Ari Schneider). Can these two save the world? Well, maybe not. But they might be able to save their neighborhood.

Will Hawk get the love of Theo (Jana Savage)? Will Rev escape unharmed? Will their mysterious eyepatched mentor teach them the ways of vampire butt kickery? How does that goth band fit in? Will mummies show up?

I absolutely loved this quick - 84 minutes! - blast of 80's infused horror comedy, which moves at a lightning pace and makes you fall for all of its characters. I could foresee several films within this world and hope that this is exactly what the filmmakers intend! Hell, this could be a video game, a comic, action figures, a marital aid line...

This may also win the award for the most volume of blood I've seen in a movie in 2020. Or at least the funniest use of way too much blood. Ah, what am I saying? Too much is never enough.

So. Much. FUN!
JonjaNet24 March 2021
This movie had me from the 80s retro title, and from there I just strapped in and enjoyed the ride. I'm really hard pressed to come up with anything bad to say about this. I gave it a 9 because, let's be honest, no film should truly be a 10, but out of films that might get lumped in with this one, maybe it would qualify. Fantastic humor written into the script and all delivered with ease. You forget you are watching a movie and really feel like you are just an observer to what, and how, these people would react. Dial it up, tune out, and just enjoy. You'll come out the other end feeling happier than you were going in.

Bloody good time.

I didn't have any expectations going into this one. It was fun. Definitely plays more to the comedy side and was a little light on vampire scenes, but what was there was well done. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Throwback horror.
inkedjew14 September 2021
Small cast big action. Throwback comedy and plenty of action to keep you entertained. If you like violence and old movie references then it for sure will be your cup of tea. Definitely for the man who loves all things horror...and for the woman that makes their man watch chick flicks. Lol. Acting was awesome And music was great as an accompaniment. Don't have a bad thing to say about it...lead actress was a plus as well.

A fun time was had by all...
francislynam6 March 2022
I am beyond thrilled that I came across this whole browsing Amazon Prime trying to find something new to watch. This indie flick was a lot of fun. I love all the callbacks to 80's classics and I've always been a sucker for vampire movies... No pun intended ;-). I definitely recommend giving this one a watch.

A Completely Pleasant Surprise
haydenberesford31 July 2021
I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when my friend put on Hawk and Rev last night but It had my full attention right from the 80's style intro. It was simply a light hearted, throwback horror buddy comedy and a really good time. I do not know why more people are not talking about this movie as it's B movie style is sure to have a cult following in the future.
