Goofs

Paper Planes

Edit

Continuity

When Dylan (Ed Oxenbould) goes to chat to Patrick (David Wenham) whilst he's playing putt putt golf on the roof, in two shots you can see Dylan holding a putting iron, however in all other scenes he never picks up the iron or has it in his hand, only a paper plane.
When Jack wakes Dylan to show him the sailing video, there is a robot clock/toy on Dylan's nightstand. When Dylan goes back to bed, there is now a glass of water.
In Japan Dylan talks to Jason's dad. At first he's holding a paper plane, next frame a mini golf club then goes back to a paper plane.
In the last scene, the placement of Kimi and Jason changes constantly. Right when Dylan holds their hands Jason is on the right of Dylan while Kimi on the left. When he raises their hands Jason is on Dylan's left and Kimi on the right.
When Dylan and his granddad are in the 'plane in the museum the plane has a cutaway to show the insides of the cockpit. At the end of this sequence when the police turn up, the cutaway is no longer there and it now has a solid panel displaying the number 652.

Factual errors

There are two comments put in to assist in marketing the film in the USA. Firstly, Mr. Hickenlooper tells the students they are going to have a 'pop quiz'. Australian schools do not have 'pop quizzes' - this is an American educational practice. Secondly, when Jason pushes Dylan down the stairs, he calls Dylan 'white trash'. This is an American term not used in Australia.

Revealing mistakes

When Dylan is sending a paper plane to Kimi, she has her back to the window wearing ear phones and turns when plane taps the glass door. She can't see the plane flying and wouldn't be able to hear it tap the glass, so she wouldn't realistically turn around each time.

Miscellaneous

Bangladesh score 71/1 (15.1 over) when Dylan has gone to school. They score 74/1 (17.5 over) when he is back. To bowl 2.4 over about 15 minute (maximum) is required.

Anachronisms

When Dylan's granddad picks him up to go to the air museum, his granddad is wearing what appears to be a brand new flight jacket. If it had been his own from the war it would have been well worn and threadbare.

Errors in geography

At the athletics track in Sydney, just after Kimi sees Dylan in the stand there is a shot of 5 people running. The sign on the outside of the track says 'Go Athletics WA'
Although the action takes place in NSW, both the ambulance and the police car bear WA registration plates.
