Simply Stunning

Alexia is an Argentinian short horror movie by Andrés Borghi, released in 2013.

Within this short, Franco is looking at Alexia's, his ex- girlfriend's, Facebook page. She recently killed herself and he feels guilty for breaking up with her, believing his actions to be the cause of it. His currently girlfriend – or love interest, it's not fully explained – Melina comes to visit after telling him not to be too down about it and to stop beating himself up over Alexia's death – he was not the cause of it. She was a "troubled child" and would have done it either way. Comforted by this, Franco unfriends Alexia on Facebook to begin to move on. What happens next is beyond scientific explanation, and downright creepy.

This was absolutely brilliant. Borghi has managed to make a large amount of suspense in just nine minutes. I found myself turning away from my screen quite often in the nine minute time frame, and jumping quite a bit. The effects done on Alexia were absolutely stunning – I'm a studying make up artist and to see such good effects on her was a blessing. The premise was really well thought out, and it was a short, nine minute film full of fright.

Please be warned this film does have close ups of graphic slit wrists.

This was brilliant and I can't praise it enough. In just nine minutes, I found myself with a seriously increased heart rate, shivering as adrenaline coursed around my venous system and whining in fear. This was definitely atmospheric and deserves a bit more hype surrounding it. A definite seven out of ten for me and a definite recommendation.

Nicely Atmospheric.

Decent little short film from Andrés Borghi, with some nice atmosphere.

The tale opens with a young guy creeping his deceased ex-girlfriend's facebook page on her birthday. He feels guilty because she offed herself shortly after he broke up with her. But his new girlfriend wants him to let go of the past...so he heeds her advice and "unfriends" himself from his friends page. And that's when things start to get weird.

Is there literally a ghost-in-the machine? Or is it all in his head? Very simple, yet effective, atmospheric little short. Some nice special effects on the wounds and ghost make up. Might make you jump a couple times. Solid little effort.

5 out of 10.

Decent Horror Film

When a troubled young woman commits suicide, her former lover is filled with guilt. He had broken up with her and feels he may have been a major contributor to her decision. While on his computer, another young woman encourages him to drop her from his friend list. But when he does so, all kinds of bad things happen. I will not say more because I could ruin it for someone. Suffice it to say that this kind of thing has been done on numerous occasions.

the past

It is not only a good horror. it has the virtue to propose a solide story, using the Internet in wise way for reflect states and vulnerabilities and the mark of past . it is a gem. for precision and cinematography and make up and the feeling send to the viewer. for a sort of realism who give to you a return to memories about old relations. and for the smart use of ambiguity. short, a great short film.

Warning: Spoilers
"Alexia" is an Argentinian 9-minute live action short film from 2013. It was written and directed by Andrés Borghi, who mostly works as a visual effects artist, but also made some films of his own already, such as this one. The language here is Spanish, but there is really not that much dialogue. I personally felt that this film started off nicely and that lead actor Sergio Berón played his part very well. However, as many good moments there are in the script, there are equally many bad moments, for example in the middle of the film before the other girl comes or the ending. Of course, a supernatural cyber horror film is nothing where I demand too much realism, but I do demand convincing plot developments and these were not too frequent here. On some occasions, they were sacrificed for cheap scares and that's also the main (actually, the only) reason why I give this one a thumbs-down. Not recommended unless you really really love horror films.
