Eh

Warning: Spoilers
Most of the characters I found to be pretty unlikable (Katsuma especially). Most of the songs are just reused from previous Moshi Monsters material and the original songs are bland and mostly forgettable. Strangeglove is probably the best part of this movie. His VA is clearly having as much fun with this as possible. The message is blatantly obvious and generic (don't be a self absorbed jerk). Things are introduced or set up but never come back or are just ignored. For example, many things in this world are operated by whistling for some odd reason, and Katsuma can't whistle. The sets up a climax where he has to believe in himself, learn to whistle, and call for rescue or something, yet all the whistling is done by Mr Snoodle. Some of the world building is odd and confusing too, and many scenes only exist for one singular purpose (Sweet Tooth's scene is only in the movie to separate the group a bit more). Finally, the movie acts like an ensemble movie with all 6 monsters, yet Katsuma and Poppet are the only ones to contribute anything to the plot and the others only have one or two lines, only to get kidnapped anyway. It's not absolutely awful and there's nothing bad for kids, but only watch this if you have to.

Just watch it
serketslayer5 July 2018
The film is really poorly made, nothing about it is good, despite this fact I completely recommend it. Kids will enjoy it because they see nothing wrong with this movie most likely, and anyone else can enjoy it because it is one of the more entertaining so bad it's good movies. Watch it for a laugh or with your kids.

Not as bad as I'd expected
kdavies-625 January 2014
Whilst really only for the under-8s I have to say that this film was not quite as dreadful as I had expected. I'm familiar with the characters as my daughter has long been a fan of the magazine and figurines and my knowledge of the cute, simplistic characters gave me no grounds for optimism when I took my seat at the local cinema this morning.

A typical movie storyline was well paced, the characters reasonably fleshed out and the film itself not too long, though it was a little tedious in places. The selfish central character goes on something of a personal journey towards realising the value of teamwork and shared achievements - a tale that has been told many times before of course.

Some of the dialogue and vocabulary was surprisingly well considered. I particularly liked a scene which went something like this: Sidekick: "Ooh, can I press the button, boss?" Baddie: "Yes you *can* press the button... but you *may* not!" Mind you, that might have gone over the heads of some of the parents (those who were still paying attention), never mind the children! In any case, the kids seemed to like it and it held their attention. Mind you, I won't be seeking out the DVD for a birthday present.

Moshi Monster Movie Review
ellij-789-45211820 December 2013
The film was awful, it had zero-point to it, and was the most boring thing in the world. If you take your child to see this movie, it will not be a Christmas gift, you'd be better of giving the child coal and a spank. They'd enjoy it more, even for a child it is mind-numbingly dull and tedious! Don't see this movie. The only people who should go see this movie are critics, so they can warn EVERYONE in the entire world to not even waste gas or petrel to go see this catastrophe of a 'movie'. I cannot emphasize the terribleness of this movie, if you take your child to go see this movie make sure they are wearing a blindfold and powerful ear muffs, or maybe even make sure they are asleep.

Simply awful.
djlivi6 September 2019
I actually quite like the Moshi Monsters. The online game, collectibles and comic were pretty good for younger kids, and the characters bright, silly and colourful. I was perfectly happy to have Moshi stickers on my phone.

Watching this film was a torturous and painful experience. 81 of the worst minutes of my life. Weak, weak, plot, grating voice acting, almost uniformly terrible songs, terrible dialogue.

Simply awful.

Fun to watch!!!
rmdransfield6 March 2014
This movie has its ups and downs like an up is how creative the characters are, a down is that sometimes it has the same emotion all the way through. This will be a good movie for a 3-7 year old. And if you like this movie once you've watched it then you should know that the director is Wipp Vernooij and Morgan Francis. I only recommend this movie to fans of Moshi Monsters because they will understand this movie even more than anyone else because know one knows better than a full fan. although its very fun to watch because it has so many scenes that make you wonder if they will make it and even if you know that they will always make it its still believable.

The problem with you lot is - you're ADULTS!
ulrichburke10 April 2014
Right. For starters - the animation's INTENTIONALLY the way it is. Colourful, and FUN! It's not pretending to be Pixar or anything else, it's just a swirling, ego-boosting, uplifting, bubbling Saturday Matinée champagne fun movie. The songs are great and work as an integral part of the movie - it would have been nothing without them. Someone here said the first song comes in for no apparent reason - watch that bit again, it's perfectly timed and placed. The adventure's wonderfully fun and silly in just the right mix and places. And I loved all the little creatures.

BUT - you've gotta go into it the way its creators went into it - with the mind of a child. Go into it as an adult and you just won't get it, same as all the other adults here. Go into it as a child and it'll blow you away. Leave your adultness at the ticket barrier, open your mind to pure enjoyment and this movie'll absolutely get you.

I went to see it because I loved the trailers. I don't know anything about Moshi Monsters. I'm 49. And I don't have any children. I just went to it by myself and had the best time I've had in a cinema for ages. Cinema going isn't about being scared/shocked/startled or nauseated. It should be about having a good time. And if you leave your adulthood behind, this movie will give you the best time you've had in years.

And the Bollywood song? I'm wondering if Mind Candy is owned by Indians, they got the Bollywood number perfect. Both times they used it in the movie. I wished I'd had a child to watch it with at the end and if they do a sequel I'll be there for it! It's a Very Good Movie. It's just not for adults. Let your inner child love it as much as did mine.

It's called "fun".
rob-896-9991913 January 2014
Guess what, if your child likes Moshi Monsters they will like this. My 6 and 4 year olds really enjoyed it, and I enjoyed it likewise by proxy. If you've ever seen any of the Moshi music videos on YouTube then you've got the idea. Colourful, musical, simply animated, squeaky, noisy. Yes it's garish, but not as headache-inducing as I feared. The use of shadow, lighting and blurring of the various 2D planes softened things to manageable levels. The music is inventive, well-produced, catchy and there's lots going on in the accompanying animation to mean you won't fall asleep in your role as accompanying adult. The plot is simple, linear, and doesn't contain any clever gags or innuendos for the grown- ups - it's just face value, goodies versus baddies rainbow coloured cutesy nonsense for Moshi fans. Loved it.

Stupid thing to critique
belonginthedark4 February 2014
Go with your junior Moshi Superfans, they will go mad. It takes all the Moshi Monsters and some of the moshlings, mostly Mr Snoodle, and pits them against the arch-villain Dr Strangeglove and his sidekick Sweetooth and the glomps.

If you have superfans and have been indoctrinated into knowing all the songs and stories then you will get it. There's a negative review on here and I don't know what he was expecting and why he thinks a Moshi fan wouldn't like it.

Moshi Superfans should definitely see this as it's all you could hope for and more

A decent watch for Moshi fans
aoifebellew8 June 2020
I really don't understand why so many people loathe this movie. It's not really intended for adults - it's more for kids (and kids at heart, like me) who are fans of Moshi Monsters - a once-popular online game aimed at 6-12 year olds, which allowed kids to adopt their own virtual pet monster and take care of it. From the viewpoint of someone who was once an 8 year old who practically WORSHIPED Moshi Monsters, this was at one point my favourite movie. I went to see it in the cinema with my best friend, who also just so happened to be a fan of the game, and we absolutely LOVED it. However, looking at it as an adult, I can see why people would dislike it. The animation is far from the best, using a lot of assets from the online game. It tries too hard to appeal to fans and fans only; anyone who's unfamiliar with the game/franchise I could imagine to be completely lost in the plot. Katsuma's extreme obsession with himself gets REALLY annoying quickly, which is unfortunate as he and Poppet are the main protagonists. Would have been nice to see Luvli, Zommer, Furi and Diavlo get more screen time. I get it, Katsuma and Poppet are the most popular monsters in the game, so it makes sense for them to be the main characters, but still. I must admit, the writing is... passable. Could have worked better as an 11 minute TV episode (in fact, this whole thing just feels like a pilot for the Moshi Monsters TV show that sadly never happened). It's PACKED with a lot of songs, a lot of which have been taken from the Music Rox album that was released in 2012. The highlights are definitely the villains' songs: 'Sweet Tooth Stomp' and 'The Doctor Will See You Now'. So after all this criticism, why am I giving this movie seven stars? Because, despite now having grown up, I still find it a nostalgic guilty pleasure of mine. Like I said, my younger self ADORED this movie (but then again, I adored anything as long as it had a Katsuma slapped on it). It's still a pretty decent flick for kids (even though the game has since shut down, the Moshi franchise lives on in other ways) and I could imagine them enjoying it the way my younger self did.

Brilliant children's movie
dso37126 January 2014
Forget the snobbish know-all critics, this is a terrific children's movie with dollops of adult humour hidden away for the oldies to giggle at.

* The story is simple, tight, clear, and fun. * The animation and colours are sharp, vibrant, and eye catching - almost psychedelic. * The music is BRILLIANT - my little ones (4 and 3) and I listen to the soundtrack every day. The Sweet Tooth Stomp rocks! * Nothing inappropriate for children. All good, clean fun with lots of adult stuff to keep the parents amused. * As I said, forget the snobs and the know-alls. Take your children to see it or Dr Strangeglove will do you in!

Ashley Slater as Dr. Strangeglove is the only good thing in this terrible movie
yuko-8391812 August 2019
If I were you, I would contact Ashley Slater if only if he would so much as please voice the adventures of sonic the hedgehog version of Doctor Robotnik and see if he can ask Sega about pitching in. Truly a worthy successor to the tragic long passed away voice actor Long John Baldry. Ashley Slater and Jaleel Ahmad White should voice together in another new adventures of sonic the hedgehog cartoon produced by Warner Bros Entertainment and air it on Cartoon Network's boomerang channel.

Best Movie ever
xofifax25 March 2020
I have never seen such an amazing film since I saw Moshi Monsters the Movie. It's a poignant story about hope. Hope gets me. That's what makes a film like this more than a movie. It tells a lesson about life. Moshi Monsters the Movie has great performances, extremely well written script and story all leading to a deeply emotional climax! One of the best dramas of all time!

The best film I have ever seen, hands down.
maxadof25 March 2020
The Moshi Monsters Movie is a spectacle of the previous decade. Never in my life have I seen a more fantastic and complex film. Every pixel on screen emanates a feeling of complete bliss. These were the best 162 minutes of my life, as I had the need to watch it twice. It is brilliantly animated and planned, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for the extremely intelligent men and women behind this.

People rating a very low rating never played Moshi Monseters
laura-amber-world6 September 2018
I am 16 years old, nearly 17 alright, and I have watched this now so much because of the humour that is in this, I have watched it once with my 7 year old cousin she played the game and because of that said it was so good and funny! Most people rating a very low rating haven't probably or their kids played the game, it's really on about the game. They have to understand some stuff in this movie from the game,I wouldn't understand if I haven't played it. I would probably say that the movie is really bad, but for a fact if you played the game and enjoyed it, it will make the movie so much better.

However I'm rating this an eight not a ten becuse their were some things missing in this movie. The mission for collecting the items for Dr Strangeglove in my opinion were really short, I think it would be better for them to make it for them more challenging to get, so the movie also wouldn't be that short, an hour and 21 minutes including the credits is a bit short in my opinion so if they would have made their adventure more exciting and challenging it would be better.

Overall, the movie is great and great for kids who enjoy the game Moshi Monsters. I met a lot of 16 year olds on the game so I wouldn't really say it's childish of me, I also played it when I was 11 and wanted to get a little memories from it. So anyone could play the game and watch the movie if they enjoy playing the game.

Great for kids
iantrayler21 December 2015
Moshi Monsters is an interactive online game for young children, conceived by a British company called Mind Candy. With 80 million registered players all over the world, adopting and nurturing virtual pet monsters My Kids loved this film... especially now its on Netflix. Great characters and they love the whole crazy world of Moshi. Suited to younger kids well worth them watching and the music is great as well, the kids have the Moshi Music CD as well. All the characters from the game. My favorite is Dr Stangeglove and the voice acting on him is really great. I liked the opening credits, 'Also starring Mr Snoodle'. The animation is vibrantly colorful and fun,

greatest movie all time
s-5382110 December 2021
I love this movie. It is very good. I love the songs. I listen to the entire soundtrack every night. If this movie was a person I would marry it and we would live in a very nice house with 2 children, as described in the american dream. I could never feel sadness ever again if I remembered this movie exists. That is how good it is.
