Summaries

  • Louisa is leaving for Spain, Bert and Jennifer's engagement party goes off with a bang, and Al is hailed as a hero for saving Caroline's life.
  • Martin watches sadly as Louisa and their baby get in a taxi on their way to Spain, after which he seeks advice from Ruth. She believes his emotional detachment and fear of blood both stem from his loveless upbringing, and advises him to go after Louisa. He confronts his mother, who has come to stay purely because she is penniless after her bereavement. Discovering that Louisa has a condition that could be fatal if in flight, he gets Penhale to rush him to the airport. Meanwhile, Ruth and Al consider a partnership in a Bed and Breakfast venture, whilst the wedding reception of Bert and Jennifer is a disaster.—don @ minifie-1
  • Martin is in something of a daze as Louisa sets off on her trip to Spain to be with her mother. His Aunt Ruth tells him his reaction to loving Louisa is not dissimilar to his love of being a surgeon. In both cases, he's reacted in such a way that he could not function. She tells him he's the one who will have to change if he is to be with her. Martin's mother admits that she is penniless and wants money from him but he flatly refuses and orders her to leave. When he learns that Louisa has a serious condition that had gone undiagnosed, he races to the airport to save her. Meanwhile, Al has a business proposal for Ruth: to convert her country house to a bed and breakfast. Al and Morwenna have to take quick action when Caroline is knocked unconscious and stops breathing after receiving a severe electrical shock.—garykmcd
  • Louisa decides to leave for Spain with baby James and says an awkward goodbye to Martin, but when he finds the scan of her brain, he spots a malformation and realises she could have a haemorrhage if she gets on the plane. Will the doctor make it to the airport in time? Meanwhile, disaster strikes at Bert and Jennifer's engagement party.
