Rita begins training the girls since they didn't finish mermaid school, starting with creating and controlling storms. Zac and Cam are suspicious that Rita is a mermaid. Cam thinks threatening her exposure could mean a free ride at school.
Lyla is upset that they've lost Zac's trust. Rita confronts Zac on his dropping grades. Rita convinces the girls to restart their training since they never finished mermaid school. Zac and Evie work on reconciling their relationship. Zac and Cam are suspicious that Rita is a mermaid so Zac tests their theory when he and his parents have a meeting with her. After discovering that Sirena, Lyla and Nixie are mermaids, Zac suspects that Rita, his school principal and their aunt, must be one as well. Despite Nixie's objections, Rita agrees to help the girls practice their mermaid powers. With her secret compromised, Rita prepares to pack up her life and move on. The girls decide to beat Zac at his own game and use their powers to disrupt his life.
