JASON STUART and his crew did a wonderful job in creating the comedy & drama of the in's and out's of friendship, love & show business. For a fun watch click on to this show. It will also touch your heart.

Mentor is a joke

Warning: Spoilers
I have to give this an honest review. After watching all 6 episodes I personally have to say that I thought it was horrible (I know I'm a meanie).

I'll start with the small things. THE MUSIC - reminiscent of all the horrible lackluster comedies that plague YouTube. Can anything suit the boring title any better? Jason's "best friend" the lady who likes to YELL a lot aka Alexandra. And that damn IPhone ringtone. Obnoxious.

Onto storyline review. Well it was fairly predictable. And almost outright. Did it not want to have any surprise factor? Was it only a vessel for Jason's acting? Jason is a self deprecating person who seems to loathe people. When Paul approaches Jason in a way which seems honest and friendly Jason shuts him down and then only entertains him when he assumes that Paul wants to date him. Interesting. If only we got to understand more of this egotistical selfish nature analyzed in the series. Maybe in future? So when Jason and Paul actually do date, wow did I find the dialogue to be nauseating. Did Jason have any mentoring in his writing? Good heavens that was painful and not the funny awkward kind. It was obvious Paul was not there under the premise that it was a date.

When Jason becomes his "mentor" I found the story increase in awkwardness. Jason's character's own self doubt and low-self esteem make him look unfit to be a mentor. Later this is realized but spending time to watch his character have a moment of false courage in ep. 3 was difficult. Paul's character seeking out this help is strange if not questionable. Unfortunately Paul couldn't come off as endearing even. Paul is obviously not 23 and doesn't even have the curiosity or naivety to make him seem any years younger than Jason. All he has to help him is the word "bro" barf! Ep. 4 got off to a slightly better start because we start to see more of the self loathing side of Jason which is the only promising aspect to any of the characters because his problems seem real and getting into the head of a narcissist who loathes people is interesting. The friendship he has with Alexandra is displayed for what it is, shallow. And that the two possibly only use one another for their own selfish needs at least Jason does. It's nice to see Jason's character loathe having to audition for one line but that is not interesting, what would be interesting is seeing how this makes him the destructive character that he is. But the story stays on the surface and we go on to Ep. 5.

In Ep. 5 has problematic writing too. Whats with all the sex talk in the car. More of Jason's secret desires for Paul seeping through? Clearly. If Jason became a predator for Paul at this point the story line would be saved because then at least it would make sense. The argument at the end was sad and disappointing. More yelling. Was it necessary? And Paul asks a valid question. Why does Jason continue doing what he's doing in the kind of mental state he's in? I think I've already pointed out why he could be. That shot at fame is so tantalizing it'll make you go mad before you give up on it but then what that journey does to you, well that's another story and frankly would be a far more interesting one. One that Jason seems to know a lot about. Mentor Season 2 idea?

Ep. 6 my head exploded. Not really. But my thoughts were made clear. Not only is Jason not fit to be a mentor. But even a friend. I mean he is so not there for Paul when Paul tells him of his mothers hurtful words. Instead Jason turns the spotlight back to himself with "I missed you". Why? So he can be around a hot guy again? Paul is very hot btw, not shirtless nearly enough. Scene when he was shirtless left much to the imagination completely dull. Anyways that's my review. Let me stop the last ep credits before the return of that dreadful ringtone.
