Jammer wears Naval aviator wings despite being a Naval flight officer, a completely different rating.

Zeke is assigned to VFA-181 "The Smokin' Skulls" but its squadron patch features the logo of VFA-34 "The Blue Blasters."

Though the F/A-18 is primarily known as a single seat fighter/attack aircraft the use of the two seat model in front line combat is well known. The current model F/A-18F Super Hornet is a two seat aircraft with the second seat occupied by a Weapon Systems Officer (WSO). Therefore Glenn is a necessary partner to Zeke on the aircraft.

Many of the scenes featuring the 5th Fleet feature the F-14 Tomcat on deck; the Tomcat was retired from US Naval service in 2006.
