Hats Off to KDB n his crew

Local Kung Fu as we all know is not a high budget film. But it offers things that are more appealing than a social theme based film and with ROFL humor, an added bonus. Starting from a guy who wants to be an under 18 don (Bonzo) to an ever smiling sub Villain the film offers vibrant and dynamic characters. The other villain Mr Tansen and his boss Dulu are classy and their fighting skills can be easily compared to the Shaolin films like The Snake in the Eagle Shadow. The main protagonist Charlie is well drafted and funny and is like the captain of the film. Some scenes like the slow motion entry and the final scene involving Khaini are hilarious. A must watch film for everyone and if you are Assamese it will be a sinful act to miss it. Thank you KDB for taking Assamese films to a new and different level and hope to get entertained more.

great mixture of action and comedy. Must watch!

Warning: Spoilers
At first glance the name "Local Kung Fu" might suggest many different ideas. But take my word for it.. other than the area in which it is shot.. nothing is local about it. Its an Assamese film no doubt, but the subtitles would definitely help non-Assamese folks to go watch this comic/action film. The primary plot revolves around Charlie who in pursuit of his love has come to guwahati to be with his girlfriend and possibly win the heart of her girlfriend's uncle. A major plot of the story also shows how the uncle is receiving threats from a local don "dulu", a martial art fighter himself. But the highlight of the film seems to be, at least to me, the character "bonzo"; the kid bro of the goon "dulu", who considers himself to be the under 18 don of Guwahati! and is always ready for a bout of fight or hooliganism. Other side characters also help the plot in bits and pieces, such as the next-in- command guy of dulu, lovingly called "tansen" because of his love for singing and music, or the partner in crime of the self-claimed under 18 don "KK", who is always by his brother whenever he is involved in a fight but manages almost all the time to remain unharmed.. because of him being a "peaceful" person. Over all, the movie is a delight to the eyes of local cinema lovers who got to see a GOOD film after a very long time. Made with a paltry budget of Rs. 95000 or so i am told, the film has good comedy, clean action scenes and a good story which by the way the director didn't seem to stretch to make it a lengthy film, which most Indian filmmakers do in India. A must watch if u love action-comedies or simple but good films or belong from Assam. A treat!

How did I find this gem of a movie!!

I just saw the famous kidnap/threatening scene on instagram, it was hilarious. Then and there i decided to watch it, and boy, have i enjoyed this movie.

The perfect lines, the illogical funny dialogues and the facial expressions (acting, I'll say) of the actors. The casting was superb as well. If you've ever watched movies like "Superhero Movie" or "Airplane!", you'll love this. Its a great movie with a lot of humour and pretty decent fight scenes. I'm Bengali, I don't know how to speak Assamese at all, but i understood most of it, the subtitles were a lot of help Overall a great movie!! And to see that it was made with such a small budget proves that you don't really need that much money to make quality content.
