After the disbandment of the idol group "Johnny's," Teruhiko Aoi, who had since pursued a career as a solo singer, actor, and voice actor (in "Tomorrow's Joe"), took on the role of a young man named Ginji who's a master of the taiko drum and has a great fondness for festivals. Armed with taiko drumsticks, he engages in wild escapades. The catchphrase of the production at the time was "Edo's young power, a chaotic tale of men and women in the Red and White Detectives' Chronicles," underlining the delightfully unconventional and exhilarating nature of this historical drama. Kenichi Hagiwara also makes regular appearances as a henchman to Ichihon Nagabei, who aids Ginji. Ginji (Teruhiko Aoi), together with Yasugoro, a bathhouse owner, Toshiro, a ronin, Kojiro, a samurai retainer's son, and Omitsu, a kimono shop owner's daughter .... use drumsticks as a weapon against the evil that lurks in the city of Edo.
