Shocking Driver's Ed. Documentary.
OllieSuave-00730 July 2018
Saw this documentary in a private driver's education class, where I remembered the students being shocked by all the gruesome images of the aftermath of fatal car accidents. This definitely gives viewers a crucial lesson of driving safe and the consequences of reckless driving, including intoxication and not wearing seat belts.

Aside from the overzealous and overacting video editor, the CHP did a good job compiling this documentary.

Boring

Red Asphalt III is a pretty annoying fake documentary about make believe police officers checking in ages of real car accidents like they are getting off on it. Especially the black female actress staring in the camera like blowing bubbles in an East-African hotel room on the top floor: in general every copper in this movie is a fake one and the acting in it sucks so hard that it's no wonder our parents from the Eighties have become mindless voodoo dolls by now voting for the wrong party in what they believe is the right way to do; in general thus fails in every way because it's not exciting like part 2, it's not informative like part 1, it just sucks that's it very sad yes.

Driving Film Not For The Weak Stomached
jeremycrimsonfox14 March 2020
In case you never saw this (either because you don't live in California and/or you refuse to get a driver's license like me), Red Asphalt is an infamous series of PSA movies filmed by the California Highway Patrol for use in driver's ed classes and private driving schools located in the state. While it looks like a typical snuff film, it was effective at scaring teenagers straight. For the people who say this is fake: it's not. Near the start, the host (who was a real officer for the Cali Highway Patrol at the time) says the videos shown were taken by patrolmen from the year before this came out, so the incidents are real, and the bodies are really people who died because they were either drunk, riding a car driven by a drunk, not wearing their seat belt, or doing something stupid behind the wheel. This is not for the faint of heart or the weak stomached, but if you can brave this, you will come out wiser. Wiser about how to be a safe driver.

Certainly the messiest of the Red Asphalt series
The_Light_Triton5 February 2017
The philosophy behind the California Highway Patrol's Red Asphalt series is simple - don't try to reason with people, just scare the hell out of them. Red Asphalt hopes that's what happens to it's viewers, that they are scared out of their wits that they ALWAYS follow the rules of the road.

Red Asphalt III is definitely a relic of it's time (1989) simply by looking at it's presentation - the videos are commentated on by a video editor and a CHP officer, both sitting in front of a giant screen while at apple mcintosh computers. The officer is definitely welcome to talk, but the video editor is as ridiculous as it gets. He exaggerates in a really unbelievable way and almost overreacts to each video he sees.

RA III contains probably the most gore of all the red asphalt videos. If you're into the traces of death series, this is a nice little treat. Scenes in this one include a man who crushes his head and loses his brains, and a teenage girl who winds up face first into her steering wheel, and a few other messy jewels all over the video.

One final note - At the beginning of the video, Maury Hannigan makes an appearance. He's best known for hosting "Real stories of the highway patrol" which was a popular alternative to Cops back in the 90s.

Finally, Remember to buckle up, don't drink alcohol and drive a car, and always, always follow the rules of the road. If you don't, you could wind up in the next Red asphalt video.
