The Nation's Favourite Dance Moment

Warning: Spoilers
I watched the documentary programmes celebrating the twenty five best songs of ABBA and Bee Gees and the greatest number ones from the last sixty years, so I was interested to see what this countdown would be listing. Dance has been around for centuries, and in popular culture it has become something to look forward to on television programme, in films and in music videos, and this programme counts down the twenty most popular dance sequences seen on screen, all chosen and voted for by the public. The listed dances are: Madonna in the music video for "Vogue", Anne Widdecombe on Strictly Come Dancing, Beyoncé in the music video for "Single Ladies", Britney Spears in the music video for "Baby One More Time", Christopher Walken in the music video for "Weapon of Choice" by Fatboy Slim, MC Hammer in the music video for "U Can't Touch This", Kylie Minogue in the music video for "Can't Get You Out of My Head", the "Jai Ho" end dance sequence in the film Slumdog Millionaire, "The Timewarp" in the film The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Psy in the music video for "Gangnam Style", the film Dirty Dancing, John Travolta in the film Saturday Night Fever, Fred Astaire (also singing) and Ginger Rogers dancing to the song "Cheek to Cheek" in the film Top Hat, Riverdance, the film Flashdance, Michael Jackson performing his iconic Moonwalk while singing "Billie Jean" on the Motown 25th Anniversary show, the film Grease, Torvill and Dean performing the Bolero at the Winter Olympics 1984, Michael Jackson in the music video for "Thriller", and the great number one was Gene Kelly singing and dancing "Singin' in the Rain" in the iconic film. Other dances mentioned, being novelty were "Saturday Night" by Whigfield, "Agadoo" by Black Lace, "Macarena" by Los Del Rio and "The Birdie Song" by The Tweets. Narrated by Rufus Hound, with contributions from Diversity's Ashley Banjo, Christopher Biggins, Patricia Birch (Grease choreographer), Jean Butler (dancer), Luis Camacho (Vogue dancer), Randy C. Connor (Baby One More Time choreographer), Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), Jeffrey Daniel (Shalamar), Christopher Dean, Nigel Dick (Baby One More Time director), Moya Doherty (co-founder of Riverdance), Stanley Donen, Ashley Everett (Single Ladies dancer), Philip Franks (The Narrator, Rocky Horror), Brian Friedman, Jason Gardiner, Len Goodman, Karen Lynn Gorney (Stephanie in Saturday Night Fever), MC Hammer, Marine Jahan (Flashdance dance double), Abigail Jayne (Magenta, Rocky Horror), John Landis, Marcea Lane (Thriller dancer), Gavin Lee (Top Hat: The Musical), Kylie Minogue, Olivia Newton- John, Vincent Paterson (former Michael Jackson choreographer), Arlene Phillips, A.R. Rahman (Jai Ho composer), Kristina Rihanoff (Strictly dancer), Ashley Roberts, Michael Rooney (Weapon of Choice and Can't Get You Out of My Head choreographer), George Sampson, Slam (Vogue dancer), Louis Smith (Strictly and Olympics), Jayne Torvill, Anne Widdecombe, Ebony Williams (Single Ladies dancer) and Kristen Beth Williams (Top Hat: The Musical). There was also a special flash mob dance by Living the Dream Comapny performing all of the dances featured in the list of the programme, this besides finding out the results is the highlight. Very good!
