After years of frustration for being left out, Sean gets his invite to professor Stein's paranormal convention for police consultants, only the find him poisoned on stage. Suspects include his academic assistant Randall and several psychics, presumed frauds and James Earl Craig, who protested not being invited and becomes the next victim. Lassiter wants to use the crazy case to scare off his new, mayor- imposed detective Betsy Brannigan, but that backfires.
