Absolutely pointless
HorrorFanLewis16 December 2021
The most pointless film I have ever had the misfortune of watching. Absolutely nothing of any interest happens, at all. Save yourself an hour and a half and do something productive. Just don't bother watching this film.

Horrendous

Absolutely pointless and baffled by the strange storyline and ending. Wish I'd watched countdown now.

Wasn't allowed to leave a 1 star review so I've left 2 as it is Christmas.

.... absolutely don't...just don't.

You're going to now though aren't you. Be warned... you'll get much more pathos watching paint...no, not even drying...just watching paint.

I did try. God knows I tried. If there was purpose to this story it eluded my very best effort to find any. I'm amazed that any funding was provided for this production and further confounded by the fact that at least once it must have reviewed before release? Didn't anyone wake up, perhaps the reviewer was, in all probability, comatose by then? I guess not, because it made its way onto Netflix.

Sorry but I'm struggling to remember the last time I wasted quite so much of my life on anything like it.

Oh....and by the way...then...it just ends, not content with utterly wasting my time...it just ends.

#obscenewasteoftime.

Odd and compelling

I can't disagree more with the other reviews. I thought it was odd, compelling, enigmatic and unsettling, with a slightly hyper-real atmosphere that builds tension and draws you in, and really makes you see Tom's view of the world. Connor O'Hara is brilliant, stubbornly uncommunicative with the adults but much more revealing by himself to the camera, and totally believable as an awkward boy whose life is being turned upside down through no fault of his own. I didn't find it slow at all, if anything it seemed too short, and the lack of an obvious conclusion is not a fault - but the official release description is quite misleading. It's not an action movie or a journey in search of anything.
