Walt Before Mickey

Edit

Anachronisms

In two different shots set in the mid 1920s, Walt is shown looking at letters addressed to him. One envelope shows a 1983 Santa Claus stamp. Later, another envelope shows a stamp with two crossed US flags that came out around 1973.
Walt visits his brother in a hospital operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs in a scene during the 1920s.

The Department of Veterans Affairs was not created until 1989 and its predecessor, The Veterans Administration, was not created until 1930.

Errors in geography

Walt's Laugh O Gram studio was located in Kansas City, Missouri. Kansas City is mentioned several times in the film, however Walt (actor Thomas Ian Nicholas) and other characters refer to Kansas several times later in the film. Wrong state.

Character error

At the Disney Brother's Studio, animator Hugh Harman says: ¡Ándale! ¡Ándale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! (which would become Speedy Gonzales' signature expression), hinting that he had originated the phrase and would later use it for the character of Speedy when Harman left Disney to work for Warner Bros. However, the originator of the expression was voice actor Mel Blanc.
When Charles Mintz calls to let Walt know that he has a problem with the girl playing Alice, the woman who answers the phone covers the ear piece instead of the mouth piece before yelling to Walt that the call is for him.
