Jesse is a black-American foreign-wars veteran in London living on the margins as a poker player. On a losing streak and desperate to re-stake himself, he goes to collect a bad debt but in the he process runs up against a professional hit man who tries to kill him. Jesse is wounded but escapes. Slinking home, he tends to his wound and sleeps. But that night he discovers that his run-in with the hit man has had an extreme and tragic consequence. Mortified, another side of Jesse emerges. He tracks down the hit man and in a final deadly confrontation he must stake not money but his courage and veteran's skills against those of the professional killer.
