- A séance aiming to return an ex-soldier his lost wartime memory leads to fresh murders over a ten-year-old battlefield incident.
- Phryne plays host to ghostly soldiers and exotic spiritualists when Aunt Prudence, swept up in the new spiritualist fad, enlists the famed Mrs Bolkonsky to contact her dead godson, Lieutenant Colonel Roland Claremont. The séance leaves Phryne certain there is something amiss - but it has nothing to do with the psychic realm. A message from beyond the grave leads to the death of a war veteran, and Phryne uncovers a past murder that lay buried in the battlefield for more than ten years before returning to haunt the perpetrators.—Every Cloud Productions
- Phryne hosts the seance when superstitious aunt Prudence asks international 'psychic' Mrs Bolkonsky to contact her late godson, Somme-victim Lieutenant Colonel Roland Claremont, leaving Phryne to believe something is amiss. Family friend Freddy Ashmead refuses a decoration, unable to remember what happened the day Roland died. The police officially investigates a grave digger's murdered when someone tries to break into Roland's family tomb, yet later a second break-in occurs in his very grave. Freddie's doubts must be solved by reconstructing the Great War drama, when Roland sent 2000 men to a senseless death yet met his own not by German fire. London-based Bolkonsky's manager has his own story, and even the second gravedigger, a giant veteran stretch-bearer, whose fist prove him 'no coward' to Bert and Cecil.—KGF Vissers
