Time dimension and black holes
don_jimmy5 April 2014
Tyson specifically in this episode can simplify the time dimension for most of people even those who are not interested in science. I find this episode is the best of the past four episodes.

Even the reality of black holes can be explained in a simple way with the help of the great script and the genuine explanation by Tyson. It can correct the wrong thoughts about it from Sci-Fi movies.

I liked the way of connecting the past or the history of cosmos to the present time, even making deductions about the future of this universe, passing through times with explaining the evolution of known universe and supportive visual effects and graphics made it easier to make a simple imagination about what we are surrounded by and to know more cosmos.

Ghosts We Can Believe In
Hitchcoc11 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Tyson presents the mysteries of the universe: the invisible. He goes into the implications of gravity and ultimately to the explanation of the black hole. He discusses the possibilities of Einstein's theory of relativity and the limitations presented by the consistency of the speed of light. He talks about the Big Bang and the relative positioning of all things cosmic. He talks about how scientific laws may be modified when we go inside a collapsed star (I don't really mean "we" because our puny bodies couldn't handle the ride. He expresses the joy of our position in the universe and how we stand on the horizon of the unknown. I don't always get the more complex explanations when it comes to this advanced physics. I appreciate that this talks to me. He brings us the "ghosts" that are theoretically there. We are introduced to John Herschel, who was way ahead of time and is little known by most of us, and how he observed things that didn't become revised for many years.

Great Episode
anmolkohli0115 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This episode focuses first on explaining light-years. It then changes it's focus by doing a repeat of the calendar year they also did in the pilot, but in a different way.

The also explain the Speed of Light, and other scientific theories. This episode goes into detail of these theories instead of a mere overview.

Then they focus on gravity, and what would happen if the Earth become gravity-less, that in turn would create a black hole.

Then the TARDIS pays a visit to the nearest black hole, Cygnus X1.

Overall a great episode, this gets an 8 out of 10.

marriage of cinema and waves of universe
Rahim2br21 February 2024
After watching this episode you see the whole world differently as if you have been given a new set of eyes.

The most beautiful analogy between sound waves and electromagnetic waves inspire us to embrace and understand how light works and how it creates colors of everythings.

If you are just a little bit familiar with the properties of variuos types of waves then this episode is ready to touch your feelings in a way taht you have never experienced.

From now on when you see a red rose it comes to your mind that its all about the properties of this flower and the way its atoms and electrons work to issue some waves with a quality that our eyes can interpret it as so-called "red" .
