Official submission of Dominican Republic to the best foreign language film category of the 87th Academy Awards 2015.
One of the scenes was written to include a wide shot with rain falling over the town, but the day of the shooting the weather was too clear. The director had almost resigned herself to use close-ups and simulate rain by pouring water through perforated PVC pipes, but suddenly it started getting cloudy. Happily, the wide shot could be filmed with natural rain.
The production went through several hardships: a storm, a damaged lens, the resignation of a key crew member, a robbery, and a grocery owner who demanded 20 thousand pesos (US$450) for turning down the music at his business.
