In talking with Lester at the Chinese restaurant, Lauren Malvo refers to Hess stuffing Lester in a barrel in high school. Malvo has no way of knowing about this incident. Viewers know because Hess alluded to it during his encounter with Lester while out with his kids, but Malvo wasn't present in that scene.
In describing his meal at the Duluth Marriott to Lester and Pearl, Chaz describes the steaks as being as big as a catcher's plate. Catchers wear big catcher's mitts and stand behind the batter at home plate.
