The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash
Tweekums31 March 2024
This isekai series is centred on Femicia, a young girl who lives in a world where people's worth is judged on the star rating of their magical skills. Unfortunately for her it emerges that she has a single skill and that is zero stars. This is considered so inauspicious that she is run out of town. She soon uses has single skill, the ability to tame creatures, to tame a weak slime. She names it Sora. When people meet her they mistake her for a young boy, she doesn't correct them and tells them her name is Ivy. Over the course of the series she makes friends and proves surprisingly useful in a local conflict.

Another season, yet another isekai show! This one is rather gentle and a lot of fun. Usually our protagonist will be ridiculously overpowered so it makes a refreshing change to have a lead who isn't obviously powerful. Femicia/Ivy is a delightful lead and Sora is a lot of fun. There are some nicely tense moments even though nobody is likely to think Ivy will be harmed. Secondary characters, both friends and antagonists are good. The character designs are good and animation is of a good quality. It might not be a must see but I'd certainly recommend it to fans of the genre.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

The Weakest Tamer is a Charming & Intriguing Tale
darkfire-7543528 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This isekai-light story follows the young protagonist "Ivy" as they leave their tragedy-stricken town behind for the mysteries of the open road on a path to the country's capital. While the isekai element tends to be a subtle feature of the story, the unusual nature in which it's presented can take some getting used to.

The world around "Ivy" is rich with a bounty of supporting characters and cunning adversaries. It's fun to see how the protagonist will handle the challenges that face them and rewarding to see how they progress during their journey.

This is something I'll rewatch while waiting for the next season.

Spoilers: I was surprised by some aspects of the story that were ignored or under-explored: the protagonist's expressed gender was only questioned once despite looking and sounding feminine; and the protagonist seemed to largely ignore Sora's healing abilities after Sora saved them from a fatal injury.

The 12th episode has a cutscene following the outro that reveals the moments before the protagonist met their first companion.

Channel: Crunchyroll Language: English, dubbed.

Not all Isekai are great
Mysterygeneration3 May 2024
Fantasy and Isekai are like peanut butter and jelly - a great pairing. But these stories often set up huge, fantastical worlds, then give the main characters way too much power. It's a tired cliché for them to just become all-powerful heroes. There's more to a story than that! Luckily, there are hidden gems out there that don't rely on this boring trope. This season, one such gem is "The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash" by novelist Honobonoru500. It's not your typical trashy Isekai - it's a surprisingly heartwarming story with a bittersweet edge.

This story takes a familiar reincarnation Isekai plot and gives it a twist. In a world obsessed with magical skill rankings represented by stars, Femicia is ostracized for having a low-rated Tamer skill and zero stars. Even her family rejects her. Shunned by Latomi Village, she escapes and finds refuge with a kind fortune teller who cares for her until the fortune teller passes away. Forced to fend for herself, Femicia (now calling herself Ivy and disguising herself as a boy) stumbles upon a weak slime and decides to care for it, naming it Sora. Together, Ivy and her slime companion embark on a new adventure, making a living by collecting discarded items and using their resourcefulness to survive.

Ditch the overpowered heroes and skimpy outfits! "The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash" offers a breath of fresh air in the stale world of fantasy Isekai. Instead of objectified characters and forced romance, it focuses on the heartwarming bond between a protector and a child. The story promises to nurture the protagonist's growth without shielding them from challenges, making them stronger when it truly matters.

Beautiful,adventure,soft-type anime
gonfreecs-7617410 February 2024
I like how this anime is being done right now. Good-feel adventure atmosphere and main character seems to have good companions plus her under rated skills! I hope they will make this a continuous anime like onepiece!

If this will be done in season style, its also okay but please make sure to not give too much time since this anime have good story and beautiful animation as well. I hope this good story will continue and company, writer, staff will do their best to continue doing this masterpiece!

Having said the above,i feel this is kinda too long just to make a comment but I have already said what I need to say. Thanks for reading!

Weakest Tamer is a very enjoyable story
Cisseta6 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
An 8 year old girl ends up starless and is driven from her original village to save her life. She's lived in the forest since she was five years old, with the lessons about how to live, which she larned from the village fortune teller. When the fortune teller dies she is forced to flee the forest near the village. On this journey she learns to trust her own judgement, and choices. She tames a very weak slime, who becomes her best friend. This series is great to see how young Ivy learns to trust other people, and her tamed monsters as she travels to a village near the capitol city, as the fortune teller advises.

Really wholesome and easy watch! Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER WARNING:

I thought this series was absolutely so wholesome and such an easy watch! The backstory of Ivy was so damn sad and got me so emotional but the fact that she was forced to live such a hard life starting at the age of FIVE YEARS OLD got me a little teary eyed, however she never gave up and I was so happy whenever there were people who actually treated her like a normal human being. Ivy also meets such good people later in the halfway mark that treat her so well and the plot actually gets really good with the introduction of the evil organization. And one thing I cannot forget to mention is how Sora is up there in cuteness of a slime, I would say Sora and Sui from "Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill" are both in 1st place, and Ciel the Adandara was so awesome whenever she would save Ivy! I really hopes they announce a season 2, this anime was such a good time, everything was so cute and wholesome, the only times that made me mad was seeing what the villagers and parents did to Ivy, I hope Ivy gets her revenge one day and shows them what they missed out on, and I wouldn't be mad if all the parents and siblings were subjected to slavery tbh.
