Bear uses scenes from the previous episodes and some additional material from those voyages to compose a rough guide to survival techniques, naturally varied according to terrain (island, desert, jungle, mountains...), climate and other circumstances. They key is ingenuity, making the best of what's at hand after keen observation, and morale. Getting around and navigating can be hard enough, as finding/improvising shelter and transportation devices. Food can be harvested, hunted or fished, consumed raw or cooked (which requires fire making), regardless of disgusting taste and smell, but water is the first, urgent priority, often requiring some purification.
