A very beautiful screen-saver.

The images in this movie are exceptionally beautiful. Especially the naked body sequences of the bathing couple are deeply touching. The textures of the protagonists' bodies and also the image composition makes you think you are admiring very atmospheric paintings. I had an impression I was watching an introduction to an independent computer game.

Because essentially that's what Dark Samurai is - a prolonged screen-saver. For the first 30 minutes of the movie (and that's all I could stand) there is hardly any plot, only eye-candies.

Considering the variety of today's music the soundtrack could be a bit more adventurous not to say experimental, because it doesn't really match the artism and beauty of the images. As for the dialogues, the only line in the first 30 minutes of Dark Samurai is the main protagonist whispering the name of his loved one, which, after some time, becomes tiresome, and judging by bursts of sarcastic laughter across the audience during the screening, it is not only my opinion.

Tried to stay focussed watching the first 20 minutes and then started to fast forward through the rest of the film in hopes of finding some scenes with actual story.

Excellent visuals, intense, artistic, creative

While watching the movie, I felt the intensity and emotional pain the main character was feeling within himself. His forbidden love becomes discovered and creates a series of events that leads the main character into a rage, looking for revenge. The visuals are so amazing. You get drawn into the characters memories, his fears, his bliss and his suffering. The dialogue is minimal but every word has its purpose and meaning. The scenes take on specific time frames either in the present time, the past memories of the character and his afterlife. This movie is a tragedy and leaves you feeling sad for the characters misfortune because of the actions he took to fight for his bride. I watched this movie two times already to look for elements in the movie that I may have missed. You have to really pay attention to every detail and scene to grasp what is truly happening. If you love international movies and artistic movies that are not main stream typical movies, I would highly recommend watching Dark Samurai. You will be left with questions and your interpretation can be different than the next person. I give this 8 stars for the creativity, the visuals, the way the movie captures your attention of all the details in the imagery. This is a must see. Great movie.

A Very Artistoic Style Of Directing, Cinematography, and Great Story

This movie is a very artistic and beautifully shot film. Even though it's an hour and fourteen minutes, this film is just gorgeous. There's not that much dialogue but when it hits, there's a meaning behind it. The opening shot of this fantastic film is absolutely beautiful and amazing. There are a few sex scenes and disturbing scenes but if you can get past that, this film is much more. Dark Samurai is an intriguing movie but can be a bit boring sometimes. You as the viewer have to really focus and pay attention to what is happening in the movie. I highly recommend this movie to the fullest.
