An amazing look into the artistic culture of Afghanistan.
NinjaScythe28 October 2013
George Gittoes came to my school by request, and graciously presented the near-final cut of this film. It shows the amazing spirit of many Afghan artists, most of whom must deal with the culture that is growing more and more hateful and fearful of them. These artists seek to create romantic films with a message of joy and tolerance, in an environment where the Taliban seek to destroy anything that dares to go against their ideals.

My only fear is that Gittoes, by guiding the artists directly, may actually be forcing their hand, and not giving them expression.

Either way, this is an amazing film that draws the viewer into another world, and shows us another type of family.
