Actors David Tennant and Karen Gillan have both worked in the Doctor Who (he as the 10th and 14th Doctor, her as Amelia Pond) and Marvel Cinematic Universe franchises (he as Kilgrave, her as Nebula).
David Tennant has been in Harry Potter, Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney franchises, many popular television shows and video games, and a number of films and acclaimed live theater productions. Tennant finally makes his Simpsons debut in the show's 35th season. He was 17 when The Simpsons debuted.
When Bart confronts Pa MacWeldon (voiced by David Tennant,) he is told "...timorous beasties shouldn't stick their nebs in other people's bizzo"; in the 2006 Doctor Who episode 'Tooth and Claw,' set in Scotland, Tennant's Tenth Doctor, assuming the guise of a Scottish professor, calls companion Rose a 'timorous beastie,' itself a quotation from Robert Burns' poem "To a Mouse."
One of the Fringe Festival's events is "Stephen Fry Is Hugh Laurie", a reference to how Fry and Laurie are friends who have repeatedly worked together as a comedy duo, including in the Blackadder series and Jeeves and Wooster (1990). This particularly seems to be playing on the title of their shared sketch show A Bit of Fry and Laurie (1987).
When Lisa arrives at the Fringe Festival, the sign announces the following events:
