- Against Bob's wishes, Peg opens up the Thyme & Tide to an unknown man late one evening. The story he provides is that his car broke down down the road, he got a ride to the inn by a stranger in a pickup, that he left his wallet in his car, and that he will pay for his room once he gets back to the car after a good night's sleep. To Bob, he is suspicious as in addition to not having ID, he has a head wound and is acting strangely. Bob's judgment may be correct as by the next day, Peg finds the now John Doe dead in his room, with the cause of death unknown, although it looks to be by suspicious means. The rumor mill spreads the news quickly through Cedar Cove, the general story circulating that he was part of a two man robbery team that hit Silverdale the night before, his partner the probable killer. Troy goes through the official investigation, with Jack tagging along. Troy's investigation may be able to determine if the rumor mill is accurate in its information. Meanwhile, Jack's son Eric has decided to live in Cedar Cove, but he doesn't seem to be in any rush to find work, always making excuses for not taking jobs. To help, Olivia asks Eric to repair a burst pipe adjacent to her office. To Olivia, Eric's work is less than satisfactory, he who also seems to have a chip on his shoulders about his upbringing being the primary culprit for the bad way his life has turned out. Olivia has to decide if she will tell Jack of her impressions of Eric. Maryellen is organizing the annual Art Walk exhibition, at which she gives Justine a prime spot. But Maryellen is looking forward to the Art Walk if only for the opportunity to spend time with John Bowman, a Tacoma-based photographer who she is interested in beyond his photography. And Seth makes a surprise visit back to Cedar Cove. He is less than happy to learn that Justine had dinner with Warren, she who had no intention of telling him about it.—Huggo
