Continuity

The comment about the carving is true, but the imagery of the piece is a little deeper. The more the "farmer" talked to Marty about faith and religion and making him doubt the more detailed it became. However, once Marty stopped listening to him it returned to less detail. It's an image of how the "farmer" was capturing Marty's soul and he was becoming the "farmers". But he loses that control over him and his faith is restored making the carving revert back.
When the old man is carving the wood, he has it almost complete, drops it and when he picks it up again it's much less carved.

Factual errors

When Brandon calls his family in November of 1994 to tell them he got a scholarship, the calendar on the wall shows November 1st as a Sunday. In 1994, November 1st was on Tuesday.
The time-line and location of games in the 1998 Season in the film are different than what actually occurred. Arkansas is shown beating South Carolina at Razorback Stadium, then a clip of a game against Florida is shown, followed by the Memphis game. Then they are shown beating Ole Miss on Halloween on the TV in the Bar, followed by their victory over Auburn to bring their record to 8-0.

In reality, the University of Arkansas did not play the University of Florida in 1998; they played South Carolina in South Carolina; the game against Auburn was played on Halloween night 1 week before the game against Ole Miss which brought their record to 8-0.

Revealing mistakes

When Brandon is shown playing in a junior high game, there is a quick shot just before he catches the opposing quarterback where the number on his jersey is reversed, revealing that this shot was moving in the wrong direction compared to the rest of the edits, so they flipped the image.

Miscellaneous

During the first football game shown in the picture, when the fans rise to give the Razorback Hog Call, only one side of the stadium does it. The other half of the stadium behind the players are seated and remain silent.

Anachronisms

Although the story is set in the mid 1990s, Razorback Stadium still has modern day logos. In one shot, you can see the current AT&T logo along with a sign saying "Arkansas Razorbacks.com in the background.
