Isabella LaBlanc in Night Country: Part 6 (2024)

Goofs

Night Country: Part 6

True Detective

Edit

Factual errors

Clark said that they obtained the DNA of the microorganism in the permafrost and that they had "Cracked it." (i.e., figured out how it could be used). However, he and his team continued to drill for more. This is unnecessary. If you have a sample of a microorganism, you can grow lots of in culture. Alternatively, if the cells were not viable, their DNA can be 'amplified' (artificially replicated in vitro). There was no need to keep drilling for more or polluting the water supplies.

Revealing mistakes

When Danvers is trapped in the refrigerator and is searching for something with which to break the glass door, she effortlessly rips the handle off a stainless steel door.
The stocky Navarro passed through a narrow, side passage in the ice cave with ease, but the very slender Danvers struggled to squeeze through.
In the ice cave, Danvers says to Navarro "Be careful. It's slippery". However, the floors of the caves are clearly rough, strewn with stones or rough fragments of ice, and audibly crunchy underfoot.

Miscellaneous

It's not explained why Danvers expects to find the right chemical to reveal latent fingerprints outside of a forensic lab, nor how she manages to find a bottle of it in an Arctic research station after rummaging for a few seconds on a single shelf.
The tunnel at Tsalal would not have been hidden beneath the floor. It would have been openly maintained to provide ease of access for their work.

Plot holes

While Annie's rampage in the cavern may have hurt their ability to harvest more material in the short run, it would not have wiped out their research, which would have been stored primarily on computers in multiple locations.
Annie is shown realizing what's going on with the pollution after reading the documents in Tsalal. The cleaning lady then sees the same documents, triggering the rampage through the station. However, none of the women seem to think to use these documents to prove that the mine is polluting the water, an issue that they've been protesting against for years, and continue to protest against even after the Tsalal deaths.
The women are shown taking revenge after discovering documents implications the men in Annie's death. The Tsalal men would not have documented their murder.

Character error

Danvers attempts to shatter the glass door of the refrigerator by repeatedly striking it with a steel bar. Interestingly, she holsters her gun to free her hands for this task, despite the fact that she could have simply shot the glass with her weapon.
