Pretty funny, good delivery
OneAnjel26 October 2023
I work with a lot of Indians (tech industy) so I thought i would check this out - the title definitely makes it sound like the humor is Muslim based. But it turns out only a few lines at the front were specific to that side of her heritage. She seems to identify with her black side much more and, being from Harlem, her material was pretty American and relevant to a much larger crowd. Her delivery is entertaining although she did say "I mean" too often at points. I also felt she needs to create more material that isn't soley about her and her very high opinion of herself. She did have some good stories, though, and some food for thought. I enjoyed the entire show overall and had a lot of laughs.

Ugh

First of all, 20% is even higher then gladd claims and 10x more than factual. Secondly, Considering vegans as gay was a real big stretch. It was fine it was a little rambling and incoherent and a lot of black jokes that I just did not get because I don't have to deal with wigs. The name thing was interesting. The way she downplayed 911 was interesting. None of that is funny of course like the majority of her act but it is interesting. It's interesting that she lived in New York and she didn't feel attacked on 911 because she's Muslim. She felt scared afterwards because new yorkers were upset with muslims in general. Just not a very amusing set.

Just Awesome and Enjoyable!!!

When I first saw the title, I was a bit skeptical what she was going to talk about, and if I would actually find it funny.

I must say that she swept me off my feet. Normally I don't watch foreign comedy shows because of the way they speak, and I dOn't really relate with what's being said, but her words were very clear, even as an African I could easily understand her jokes. The way she spoke and shared her life experiences were very enjoyable.

At first I was just listening but as she went on, I had to stop other activities and give it all of my attention. There were no dry moments.

I am definitely looking forward to more comedy shows from her.

A MUST WATCH!

I Loved it, loved it, loved it!!!

I saw her promote this, softly, on Fridays with Tab and Chance and I was literally counting down the days until this became available on Prime. I absolutely LOVED her special. She started off slow but for her to be a fairly new comedian, I would watch her over ANY other comedian, male or female, all day. I have a few other comedians whom I love dearly but Zainab had me smiling from ear to ear the ENTIRE TIME. I was trying to work and watch and I could not do it. I was glued to the screen. I am not a professional critic and I don't know if this spot is reserved for that but I don't care. Any way I can help get the word out about her, I will. Please watch it!

This should be rated more highly....!

As a female Muslim who has also dabbled in stand up comedy, I identified with a lot of her material.

She has a very soft yet strong and clear voice with a compelling way of delivery (that would be very suited to stage/theater acting). It wasn't any physical antics but rather her voice and delivery that kept me glued to my seat as I didn't want to miss a single line.

I was chuckling throughout and found myself laughing out loud more than a couple of times throughout her performance (though it did get a bit somber near the end).

I feel like more people should see this and it should be rated more highly on IMDB.

Hilarious and Insightful!

Zainab Johnson is one of the best comedians out right now. She constructs a joke excellently. She is maticulous and well crafted. She deserves everything she gets. Hijabs Off is an introspective deep dive into her life. She has the ability to bring laughter to religious and cultural conversations. Zainab, this is your moment. Live in it. I truly believe this is the beginning to people realizing your genius comedically.

Amazon, appreciate the fact that you all have Zainab on your roster of comedians.

P. S - She is the only reason watch the show Upload. Great show by the way.

Go Zainab!!! #1 Fan.

Wanted more of Zainab
ybredad1 November 2023
I found Zainab watching Upload and was immediately drawn to her. Wanted more scenes of her. Loved her chocolatiness and sass {both controlled and warranted}. LOVED her voice, reminiscent of another similarly built sis...Tasha Smith.

Whether is was some background contracting deal as a result of her being on that show or she's the biggest breakout start of the show and Amazon wants to keep her around, either way, Zainab is deserving.

Fact that laughed many times and smiled the whole show, even the end says a lot. Been watching a lot of comedy these past few years. Watch Zainab {wish I there was a way to have her name voiced over} 'cause she's good. Watch 'cause you might learn something. Who knew Western Union? Watch 'cause she's so close to having the infinity stone glove.

Enjoy!
