That's how you end a series.

Lorna finally manages to put all of the pieces together, learning exactly what happened to Agnes, and what happened to the woman in the wall.

I think it's been an incredibly satisfying drama, and this final episode being the cherry on the top, I genuinely found myself captivated.

The writing was surely key to the success of this drama, everything fitted together so neatly, every loose end was immaculately tied up, from the riddle of the woman in the wall, to Akande's disturbing nightmare.

Ruth Wilson, once again tremendous, credit also to both Darly McCormack and Frances Tomelty, I thought the pair were excellent here.

Bravo BBC and all involved, this has been a captivating watch, it ends on a real high.

Tremendous.

10/10.

I have made it clear that I have found The Woman in the Wall to be a frustrating series. It has been poor until episode five.

Unfortunately that was just a fluke, as the final episode resumes normal service. I am surprised at myself that I made it to the end.

It begins with Aoife Cassidy and how she came into contact with Father Percy. She tells him about her fits that leads people to think that she is dead.

It also solves the mystery of hose Father Percy died. This means for the rest of the episode Detective Colman Akande is barking up the wrong tree. As he pursues Coyle and his role in child trafficking and covering up his tracks.

From then on Coyle hits a series of red herrings. Just like Lorna Brady, everytime she thinks someone will give her answers. She encounters more blank walls where someone tells her she is deluded.

The series does do some justice about the Magdalene laundries in Ireland, how the young women were treated and what happened to the children. I cannot help thinking such an important issue was poorly served by meshing with a badly realised murder mystery.
