Good start to what could be a great show

Warning: Spoilers
After watching the first episode, I was expecting the series to become my new favorite show about the Pygmalion process of flipping houses. First the great: the show is fast- paced; it captures the adrenaline rush of a courthouse steps auction (even if it is staged and staffed with only contestants); the characters are for the most part engaging, attractive people who are easily relatable; and the show has real numbers at the end so we don't have that "they're expecting an offer real soon" letdown of so many other shows that try too hard to not reveal the real numbers. Then there is the good: the show features talented people but does not dwell on the remodel, there is simply not enough time. Also, the "in process" portion does not feature that contrived time crunch "we only have five minutes to finish the backsplash" that has grown so tired in home shows. Third, the competitors aren't really competing since these are apple-and-oranges homes with radically different budgets. Fourth, the reveal is handled as differently as the houses, with some being open houses and others being walk-throughs. Now for the part that left me cold: in the second episode, the two young men who did the Saratoga remodel became insufferable. Always snappily dressed and careening around in their German luxe sedan, they never lift a finger in the remodeling process, instead preferring to look like colonial overlords of a worksite, swooping in to be astonished at their own good taste (and great luck) in the final reveal as if they hadn't seen the place since they laid their manicured hands on it. That they made out with the biggest profit (saying they sold, at 400K over their asking price to a buyer who was not the highest bidder was gross). And their design is again derivative - that was no Eichhler, and if it was it didn't deserve California Closets traditional fixtures in the Master . One last peeve: the staging might get the house sold in a day, but so much of it already looks a tad dated, what with huge- faced clocks and pillow avalanches on the beds.

great show

From the steps of the courthouse to the "oohs" and "aahs" of an open house, five teams of expert flippers bid against each other for abandoned houses sight unseen. It's a high-stakes hour in which three auctions are won, three houses are renovated and then all three houses go on the market for top dollar. Which team took the biggest risk, worked the hardest and overcame the biggest challenges? Find out on Flip It to Win It.

The docu style reality show was top notch

Loved working with the cast and production team.
