This was based on the case of Burton Abbott, a University of California at Berkeley accounting student who was convicted of the murder of 14-year-old Stephanie Bryan. Bryan disappeared on April 28, 1955, and her body was found on July 20. Although all the evidence against Abbott was circumstantial, he was found guilty of first-degree murder in November 1955. He was executed on March 15, 1957.
Penney Parker appears as the murder victim, Bobbie Simmons.
