Initially Vera Wright was designed to play the role of Fanny but then she was given that of Flavia aka Marie Christine. Strangely, Carla Santiago, who plays a girl at the party, initially played the role that was given to Vera Wright.
In the movie there are many references to the music and cinema of the '60s. During a dialogue the main character (Antonio) names the movies "Psych-out"(1968) by Richard Rush and "L'uomo dal pennello d'oro" (1969) by Franz Marischka. Furthermore "Cymbaline" is the title of a song by Pink Floyd added in the soundtrack of the movie "More"(1969) by Barbet Schroeder.
The main scenes were shot in 2002 and 2003. The movie was completed in 2005 after "Innamorata della morte" and edited in 2007 after "Mimesis"
