In order to protect the safety of the fish, there were actually four pairs of fish used in the production. Other running shots contained fake fish made of carrots, which the crew lovingly referred to as, 'the stand-in's'.
During the film's festival run, the credits listed the production as, "A McTran Film". This refers to Joseph Tran & James D. McCartney's directing team-up, and is a combination of their last names.
This short film was shot in the subway route between North Hollywood and Universal City, in Los Angeles, California. Because of the busy nature of the stations, the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority granted permission for filming only provided that there would be no lighting or camera setups of any kind. Consequently, no two shots were ever the same.
