This programmes seems to strive for the low notes. At times its triviality is cringe-making, especially when scenes are punctuated with an infantile "Wow!" The clichés used to introduce scenes are very worn: presenter strides to expert leaning over fence with a hullo, fancy seeing you here, sort of thing. With two exceptions, speech jars with its poor articulation - trying reach the level of someone way down there? The technical content is generally very good indeed; it is so sad to get it through poor presenters. John Craven and, sadly not frequently enough, Ellie Harrison along with the sturdy farming input, lift the programme to the levels it ought to be. Unfortunately, the other presenters perhaps do not deserve their passage. Sad to say, the programme is another example of the BBC growing rice on a gold mine. Possibly the limited powers that be are thinking of a change and taking everything down a notch further. Sad if that happens; the BBC would be greatly serving the nation if it notched it all significantly higher.
