- Join a multiverse of talents as they take their festival Tour de Moon- which advocates for plurality, countercultures and nightlife- around the UK...Discover an hyperenergetic antidote to nationalism.
- On 10th May 2022, Tour du Moon- a new free nationwide public festival aiming to reach millions- convoy sets off across Britain as part of Unboxed festival, which celebrates creativity in the UK, as a part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Of all the Unboxed events and experiences, Tour de Moon is the one most focused on 18 to 25-year-olds, the one with the widest national coverage and with the greatest level of participation by Britain's creative community. It is also the most ambitious and most prone to go wrong, with a traveling convoy of some of the UK's most imaginative organizers of experiences, whistleblowers and activists on board working to redistribute wealth.... While the team behind Tour de Moon is all for creating an open, out-of-this-world collaborative project- everything goes against them. Brexit, Covid and the overall divisive political national context. Meet Tour de Moon's team and see it through their eyes as they try to work to build a festival and heal a nation. Tour de Moon is the brainchild of Dr. Nelly Ben Hayoun, once described as the Willy Wonka of Design and Science, who has also established the International Space Orchestra, founded the University of the Underground, worked for NASA, The United Nations, trained military forces for asteroid impacts, collaborated with Pussy Riot or Massive Attack and activists such as Noam Chomsky across the globe. As this CV suggests, conventional is not a word ever used to describe Nelly. There is, indeed, no easy box into which she fits. Ever since she knew that Tour de Moon was going to be part of Unboxed, Nelly and her team have been filming the story of getting the show on the road. It chronicles the drama, excitement, frustration and disappointments as she cajoles, pleads, begs (with charm and humor) people into joining the project. We meet the hundreds of youths taking part into the project as the convoy hits the road, crisscrossing the country from Plymouth to Bletchley to Leicester to Barrow in Furness to Newcastle upon Tyne, with many other stops in between, we watch the development of their acting, artistic career filled with utmost positive and enthusiastic energies. Tour de Moon drives around with the most insane props such as giant squids, 16 meter high inflatable astronauts with trojan horses and giant gummy bears, see the accomplishment of this surrealist production with creative works from the 18 to 25-year-olds around the country who have been recruited through open calls to be part of Tour de Moon... All of it watched with the loving grace of eccentric director Ben Hayoun, who changes her fluorescent nail sets at every full moon.
