When they started making the documentary, the director and cast did not know that Hyperbubble would be chosen as winners in the Dolly Parton "Jolene" Twitter/Netflix contest. It happened during the making of the film.
Hyperbubble member, Jessica's mother, Jeanette, was Vincent Price's assistant in St Louis, his hometown. Among her duties was helping Price prepare for television shows.
The movies narrator, Ricardo Autobahn has produced top 40 songs, appeared on Top of the Pops, and along with his co-writer Daz, represented England in Eurovision.
Even though it is animated in the film, the dumpster dive scene is a true story. Jeff from Hyperbubble, as a teen, jumped into a record company's dumpster and found an album by a band called Shoes. In the film, Jeff travels from Texas to Wisconsin and hands members of Shoes the actual record he found in the dumpster in 1979.
Hyperbubble band-mates Jess and Jeff are married. They met at a screening of Craig Baldwin's electronic music documentary film, "Sonic Outlaws".
