In "Divorce Party," tensions arise as Sylvia and Will, reunited besties, become closer. Sylvia relies on Will for distraction and Will for support, as his ex-wife challenges his ability to move on and move into a house with her Nordic lover. Will and Sylvia's reunion comes at a crucial time in their lives, as Will is going through a divorce and Sylvia is facing identity crisis. They can support each other, similar to the poorly-rehearsed divorce party speech. Andy criticizes Sylvia for being at the lowest point of her life, stating that it's "little tough." Andy is unfazed by Sylvia's return, and she attempts to explain herself to Will's protective friend and business partner, but is rebuffed, causing tension. Andy steers Will's divorce party to a strip club and nose candy for dessert, increasing tension but quickly reducing it with a scene in the bathroom stall where they snort ketamine. Rose Byrne's hilarious scene and physical comedy at the convenience store help cut the tension. The one-on-one scenes between Will and Sylvia evoke conversational comedy from Seinfeld, and if Seinfeld were still around today, a storyline around a divorce party would likely exist. "Divorce Party" highlights the comedic element due to rising tensions, hinting at more dramatic elements. However, excessive drama may detract from the comedy, which is the backbone of Platonic. Charlie's consternation about his wife's return home at four in the morning suggests a possibility for comedy. He hopes his disapproval of Sylvia's actions won't be too heavy-handed. Sylvia and Andy's disagreement could be a good opportunity for comedy, as two of Will's friends' at odds could be ripe for the show. "Divorce Party" is entertaining and enjoyable, with Will and Sylvia engaging in Seinfeld-style shenanigans. Fans would appreciate more Seinfeld-style moments. Will and Sylvia's interactions in the Platonic series feel like therapy, as they listen calmly and present appropriate solutions. Their friendship is strong, and their relationship is thriving. However, Charlie's awakening when Sylvia returns to the party signals potential issues with their friendship. Will objected to Will having a say in their future home, which should be his and her wife's. The romantic relationship between Will and Sylvia is a complex one, with Will taking Sylvia to a grocery store after getting high on cocaine and ketamine. The scene of Sylvia bumping into wine bottles and sitting on the floor in her wine-stained clothes evokes a young baby sitting between spilled food and stained clothes. In the fourth episode of Platonic, "Divorce Party," Will makes out with Peyton in her home, where she is separated from the rest of the house by a curtain. Will misses Audrey and continues to scroll her profile, kicking scooters. Sylvia attends a divorce gathering with Katie, but her speech is narrated by Katie, making the lines awkward and unintelligible. The humor in Platonic is balanced, ensuring the audience enjoys the show without hearing unintelligible dialogues. Sylvia's husband gives her the business card of a fellow lawyer starting his firm, but she decides to skip it altogether. To cheer up her friend Will, she organizes a divorce party, which turns out to be a rave party. The episode has a total duration of 33 minutes, and the writers have covered a lot in the right amount, making it enjoyable to watch.
