Summaries

  • With his secrets unveiled, Pastor Mike takes Linden prisoner and they drive around the city. Linden manages to keep her radio on and the police are able to locate them. Linden believes him when he says he's not the serial killer and forensic analysis of his car seems to suggest he is innocent. Bullet is frantic over the missing Lyric, convinced that Pastor Mike has taken her. She tells Holder Mike has taken her to the woods where they found the killing field. The police diverted resources to look for her and it's apparent Bullet lied when they find Lyric out hustling on the street. For Bullet, Lyric's reaction to what she's done for her isn't quite what she was expecting. She talks to Angie Gower. At the prison, Seward pleads with his lawyer to do something, anything, based on Linden's belief that he is not guilty of killing his wife. The lawyer says nothing can be done.—garykmcd

Synopsis

  • Open with Mike sitting in the back of Linden's car with a knife to her throat. He takes her gun and tells her to drive "away from the lights." She manages to turn on her radio without his knowledge. Mike is furious that he has a target on his back because he helps kids.

Bullet drops by the station and tells Holder that Lyric is gone. She says Lyric called her earlier in a panic, saying that Mike took her to the woods where he killed the other girls. Holder brings this information to Skinner, vouching for Bullet before half of the men are moved to search the woods.

Linden tells Mike about her history in foster care.

Nothing is found in the park. Holder is told about the open radio channel and they start listening to the conversation. A search is immediately ordered.

Mike starts talking about heroin addiction in kids. He asks about the girl in Arizona and says "I never meant to hurt her." Linden references a bridge and the police begin to lose the signal. Sending the air support to the woods means they will not be able to help Linden for 20 minutes.

Mike tells Linden he had been detoxing the girl in Arizona. She starts talking about the custody battle for her son. Mike has Linden pull into an abandoned underground parking lot of some kind. The signal is lost. Mike tells her he used to "find them down here" and asks her to turn off the car. Linden begins to panic. She lights up a cigarette and talks about the mistakes she made with her son. Mike tells her he doesn't want to be there anymore and asks to be taken to the water.

Linden's radio signal returns and they are able to hear her talk about where they are going. We see that Linden's battery is going out. She tells a story that lets Holder know where they are going. Mike says he was the one who took Angie to the vet, giving them $800 to take care of her. He says he lied because he didn't think anyone would believe him. Mike leans over and spots the light on the radio. He pulls her out of the car and takes her to the edge of the water, pointing the gun at her. He orders Linden to her knees and she pleads for her life. He kneels next to her and begs God for forgiveness. We hear sirens in the background and Mike drops the gun into the water. He's taken into custody without any shots fired.

Seward meets with his lawyer. He thinks there might be something Linden can do, but his lawyer tells him he's out of appeals. Seward tells his lawyer he no longer wants to hang. His lawyer essentially ignores him, asking what Seward would like to do with his remains. After the meeting Seward has a panic attack and Becker helps him through the moment of terror.

The only blood in Mike's car belongs to Angie and he was in Mexico City when the other girls were killed. He's not the killer. Skinner tells Holder that Lyric was picked up by the police. She'd been hustling all night after walking out of Mike's house. Bullet lied to Holder and Skinner tells him to "make this right."

Holder tells Bullet to leave the station, threatening to bury her in foster care. On her way out he makes a point to tell her nobody cares about her.

At home Linden watches Skinner update the media, saying essentially that there is no progress with the serial killer. Holder drops by with Chinese food.

Bullet finds Lyric, who is upset she told the police she was missing. Lyric says she's back with Twitch and tells Bullet she's not gay. Bullet immediately goes and scores some heroin. The dealer says he recently sold to a girl with a missing finger who told him she was leaving town.

Holder and Linden talk about the kidnapping. She says it felt like what she imagined the girls went through. Linden references Seward, who is two days from execution.

Becker's wife stops by the prison with her son. She tells ? Becker hasn't been home for days and tells him how bad their marriage has been recently. She says she's scared and wants someone to talk to. He says he's sorry and leaves.

Bullet finds Angie at the train station. She thinks "that man" will kill her if she stays. Bullet offers her the drugs if she tells her who the guy is.

Holder talks about his sister not completely trusting him as a former addict. Bullet gives Holder a call but he ignores his phone. Holder offers to take a look at Seward's file.

We see Bullet leaving Holder a voicemail. She says "I know who he is."

Seward calls Linden from his cell. He says he can help get her in touch with Adrian. He wants her help.

Bullet waits in a diner by herself. It appears that the killer is watching her from the street.
