The next game on the Switch's SNES online system is one of the other PAL release titles, Super Tennis - another game I didn't have at the time but picked up a copy a little later in the consoles lifecycle.
It's a tennis sim, as you might imagine. You can play singles, or doubles, with or against a second human, or the CPU. There are three courts to choose from, clay, grass or hard - all of which effect the bounce of the ball and there is a tournament world tour type mode that you can also play in.
Graphic wise, this is pretty good. Responsive cartoony characters moving around a court that's as complicated as it needs to be. The lines of the court are a little blocky and tend to flicker as the screen moves forwards and back - I honestly can't remember if this was the case in the original game, but it's certainly noticeable in this emulation. The sound effects are fine. The main theme is a catchy little number, in fact all the music is pretty good.
Now I have to decide if I criticise the game for my ability or not. My problem is, I've played an awful lot of "Super Smash Tennis" which is also on the online system. I'm used to the timing on "Smash Tennis", which isn't the same as "Super Tennis", so when I play the game I'm constantly and frustratingly missing the ball as I've swung to early, or I've expected the character to dive for the ball and they haven't. Is it fair to criticise the game when the problem is with my experience and preferece? I don't know, but I do know that although I feel this is a decent enough game, in a world where the superior "Super Smash Tennis" also exists, playing "Super Tennis" feels like settling.
