So it's the day after Teddy has asked Rayna for a divorce.
First she has to face a day of interviews and then it's showtime. She misses her first couple of cues at the top of the show and Bucky and Deacon are nervous and Juliette is thrilled.
Deacon pulls her aside to ask if everything is okay and she says it's not and they will talk about it but that she can't right now or she'll lose it.
She runs into Liam at her after party and decides to bury the hatchet with him with shots at a bar. She explains to him what's going on and how she wants to run away from her life. He plants one on her and at first she follows him back to his room. But after another quick make out session she pulls back and goes to cry in the bathroom. He eventually comes in and they just talk. She bemoans the end of her marriage wondering if she should stay in it for th ekids. He says his parents did that for awhile and the best day of his life was when they finally gave up. Of course, he only realizes that in retrospect and says the next day will be difficult for her. She suggests they finish making her album.
The next day Deacon notices Rayna being chummy with Liam and basically accuses her of sleeping with him. Rayna asks him what he wants from her and he bitterly says nothing.
She heads home to Teddy and the girls, who have made her a welcome home cake. They break the news, everyone is sad. Later, when Rayna is packing up some things Maddie comes to her and asks if Teddy is still seeing Peggy. This is news to Rayna. Maddie overheard them talking on the phone-- and Teddy saying how much better he felt when he talked to her-- and thought her mom should know.
Juliette has got a wild hair about changing up the show. Since the new song with Deacon went so well she wants to incorporate a whole acoustic section, complete with new staging and lighting for the second half of the tour. Glen would like her to hold her horses but Juliette will not be tamed. She hands out notes to the crew excising the "juvenile" parts of her show and tells Glen to make it happen, that she's no longer his puppet but the boss of multi-million dollar enterprise and she's taking the reins. Glen chafes at this and tells Deacon and the rest of the crew to run changes by him. Juliette doesn't like that Glen and the crew were talking behind her back so she wakes them all up in the middle of the night and tells them she's he boss. Glen quits and Juliette lets him. When she gets home she calls her mom and offers her a place to stay when she gets out of rehab.
Avery is struggling. He's staying in a crummy motel because he hasn't made a dime since signing with Dominic, who is torturing him with creative changes he wants to make to Avery's sound. But then Hayley and her publishing company come calling offering six figures for half his publishing. Marilyn tells him not to sell since it could be worth millions some day. He ignores her advice, and his concerns that he, Gunnar, and Scarlett will all be at the same company and sells and promptly get a check for $100,000.
Gunnar's brother shows up out of the blue looking for a place to crash and, incredibly, to restart the music career he contemplated before he got sent up the river. Gunnar explains to Scarlett what happened and she agrees to let him stay for one night only, not wanting to harbor a fugitive. He swears he has gotten rid of the gun and although he's breaking his parole by not staying in Texas he's otherwise on the straight and narrow. The next morning he explains to Scarlett how he raised Gunnar and gave him guitar lessons as wel as his first guitar. He makes Gunnar's favorite eggs. Gunnar and Scarlett work on a new song they are hoping to sell to Rayna since Watty called and said she's interested in signing them to her label. As they sing, Gunnar's brother picks up a spare guitar and plays along perfectly. Scarlett softens her position and says he can stay a few more days.
