There is no better character development than Vinland Saga!
moritzherz14 March 2023
This tenth episode of the second season serves as a kind of midseason finale. The journey of Einar and Thorfinn to earn there freedom is nearly over and now is the perfect moment to reflect on the amazing way that got us here.

How Mappa developed Thorfinn from a barbaric for revenge lustering butcher to a pacifist that feels guilty for the violence he caused is sensational. I can follow all the steps he took and it makes perfectly sense! The relation to Einar developed to a kind of brotherhood and that is great!!!

All the events happened on the farm were brilliant and characters like the master or the old master grew on me.

Bit I also like the intermissions with Canute the very likely new villain Thorfinn will confront in the future. His change from the silent prince to the brave and dangerous king was written perfectly.

This is an extraordinary basis the masterminds at Mappa can build on! They have earned my respect and trust for sure!

With this said I am really looking forward to see the next episode!

Disturbing!

Warning: Spoilers
This season has been banger after banger, and it's starting to look like one of my favourite seasons of TV ever! Although Thorfinn and Einar finish cutting down the trees, this episode is all about Canute as his story takes a disturbing route. As he visits his dying brother King Harald of Norway he is haunted by the head of his late father King Sweyn who torments him throughout his journey. Although Canute himself is unfazed it's still genuinely creepy to see, and it reminds us of how cold hearted Canute's character has become. Anyhow, Harald leaves the throne in his brothers name leaving the door of possibilities wide open for the remainder of this season and the rest of the show.

9/10.

Canute Believe This

Warning: Spoilers
Nice episode, showing us more of Canute's side of the story. However, it's kinda crazy how Canute went from being one of the most innocent/nicest characters to a character that would poison his own brother... They should show more of why or how he became this extreme. I also wonder if this will affect the farmland saga by harming Ketle and forcing poor Thorfinn to go back on the oath that he made; to never harm anyone again. As much as I would love to see Thorfinn in action again, it will also be sad to see and harm his character development. Looks like Canute is growing to be worse than his late father.
