In a scene about 20 minutes into the movie, the young dude is seen washing a silver dollar his missing Dad gave him in the river water. The coin he is washing is clearly a Morgan Silver Dollar. Morgans were not produced until 1879, 15 years after the film occurs in 1864. Still, a good film worth watching.
At the very beginning of the movie, as the boy walks toward the cabin, there is a battle - obviously miles away - occurring over the hill. However, as soon as a flash occurs from a cannon fire there is the sound of the firing - sound travels slower than light, so you should first see the flash and then a time late the report of the discharge.
