An indie, quirky, Christian comedy with some heart
calebbloomer19 July 2020
Although a low budget production that could've benefitted from a couple more rewrites, it's cute, fun, and great for families within its target audience. However, it misses an opportunity to reach out to a wider audience; one that may benefit more from its message. This is partly to do with its lighthearted tone and characters, and while one of the movie's highlights is not taking itself too seriously, the audience may also be left with the same notion. The actor who plays Jack is charming and fun to watch, and the movie has some funny one-liners. Would reccomend to older Christians and sheltered youth but not to those hungry for something to expand their horizons on what it means to be a Christian from an Atheist's perspective, which I felt was a missed opportunity. The concept is great though, and given the resources would work much better as a television series.

So very many adorable moments in this movie! I seldom watch a movie twice, but certainly went back and did so for this quirky charmer. Caught many more funny scenes, personality insights, lighting, music dysphoria, subplots, etc etc etc!

If the pandemic has stressed you, if you've never been to Fresno, if you've ever walked through a religious building of any sort, you'll get a HUGE kick out of this comedy.

WE LOVED the ongoing fashion issue with the wife Jill and her exasperation with the entire fish out of water situation!!!! (AND loved the bodyguard, AND the secretary's character arc, AND the Athiest, AND Quasimodo's "GOOD MORNING" announcements, AND the bewildered, totally unprepared, Associate Pastor Jack, AND the "three-lettter-agency's" ongoing cameos, AND the reluctant lawyer & his Cruella-type wife, AND the screenplay (good writing there, boys) AND the Choir Director, AND ...well there's LOTS of hysterically funny "ands": You might as well just watch it:-) After viewing the closing credits, I was amazed to see that it documented a large community funding- what very smart folks!

In Summary- I loved this enough to share with my friends, bet you will, too! FUN!
