When the corpse of the brilliant graduate student Linda is found in a tank of flesh-eating insects in a laboratory in the natural history museum, Lisbon and Patrick assume the investigation and learn that she was missing for several weeks. They interview several students, including Greg that found her body; Sonia Kidd, who was her advisor, and she explains Linda was researching a kind of woodpecker; her envious classmate Megan Parker, who was trying to retrieve a book; and the researcher Paul Friedman, among others. But soon Patrick sets a trap to expose the killer.
