A Clichéd Story Told Through A Glossy Frame In A Gaudy Manner!
nairtejas14 March 2013
Sekhar Menon is impressive with his debut while Sreenath Bhasi is charming since I first saw him in Dileep starrer Arike! He has grown as one good teen actor, I say. Ann Augustine is wooden & could be compared with Arjun Rampal of Bollywood. The rest of the cast is average because they don't have much to play. Nivin Pauly is amazing in his new role.

The story is pretty clean with a fat guy aiming high, love & freedom from humility. The story revolved around the thadiyan and his life. Yes, of course, this films talks about hope and how one should stand with one's capabilities, but at a time when Aashiq Abu has delivered us 22Fk and while we expect more serious cinema, Da Thadiya stands inside the box not to charm much. Rating 6/10.

Introducing teen Mallu language, Star Wars star-troopers' helmet, flashy songs, dress code or Vespa for that matter won't work anymore. That phase is just out of trend, right now. But, I appreciate how Abu has taken courage to direct a film with teen faces and yes, he has succeeded in garnering the local Kerala crowd. But, in a broader aspect, DT just fairs average, or maybe a step ahead. That's all.

Nothing new in story, stunts are fake, songs are catchy, performances are amazing, direction is good as well as the screenplay. Watch it for the entertainment, because this is no charmer. And yes, go for it for the brilliant wacky climax; no wonder why people around me howled for that last sequence!

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES
