A photographer tries to take a picture of a pretty girl in a Greek costume. She keeps turning into a hideous crone in this very short movie shot by Robert K. Bonine.
The effect is achieved, of course, by stopping the camera, switching the women, and starting the camera again. It's a very well achieved example of the effect known to cameramen at least since THE EXECUTION OF MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS in 1895; Melies also made use of the method in his trick films. One could meditate endlessly on what this film means, and the disturbing relationship between perception and reality, but there's little doubt that this one was intended purely as a gag.
