rather than nestling between a writhing mass of 5500 under 25 yo doting females lip syncing every word of The Jezabels 16 song set ...if you opted for viewing the live DVD you will be pleasantly surprised by the live audio mix.. especially the 5.1 ..the choice of shots lends more to art than a purists documentation but hey the sheer magnitude of digital choice in editing has always left me bewildered..I would have preferred more closeups of the band members especially the lead singer..the editor seemed to opt for a rack focus look on all shots with occasional close ups of telecaster guitars and long to mid shots dominating the overall aspect.. maybe the shear dimensions of the venue with the million dollar lighting played its part in shot choices. nevertheless a fascinatingly gifted band giving their all is always going to be hard to interpret from a gen Ys camera viewpoint...with this DVD THE JEZABELS LIVE AT THE HORDERN .. art prevails on every level... even the colorist keeps the under toned generation desaturated lest they break loose and let a glimpse of colour settle on the emo parade...the band are electric faeries magically thrust into a musical banquet of their own culinary design..the audio is mixed to perfection.the writhing crowd devotedly eat it up..mesmerised in a jezabels trance....on second viewing it all makes much more sense and the behind the scenes capture is priceless.. this ritualistic event is well worth the 20 dollars or so as historical memorabilia alone...indie bands come and go ..but i feel THE JEZABELS and co ...may just be rewriting the rules on that.. there are about 5 extra music video clips that give a historical context to the whole ascendancy of the rise and rise of THE JEZABELS.including first single DISCO BISCUIT LOVE..buy it I did ..it doesn't disappoint the JEZABELS never do
